This icing recipe may seem a bit odd, but I can assure it works!

Using white shortening (Trex) instead of butter or marge makes for a very white cream icing which colours much better for decorating and actually doesn’t taste odd in the slightest!

·  2oz salted butter at room temperature. Use pale coloured butter
·  2oz unsalted butter - room temperature
·  3 ½ oz white shortening (Trex)

·  ½ tablespoon Clear Vanilla extract

·  450g Icing Sugar

·  2 - 3 Tablespoons very cold milk

·  Cream the butter and shortening in the bowl of an electric or stand mixer

·  Add the clear vanilla extract and combine well.

·  Begin adding in the sugar and mixing thoroughly after each addition.

· After all of the sugar has been added and mixed thoroughly, begin adding the very cold milk... one tablespoon at a time, combining very well after each addition (mixer on medium-high to high speed) until you reach the desired consistency.
