Preserves

Oh the joy of making your own preserves! when you see the market stall laden with fresh apricots or cheap strawberries, think of the taste of that jam in months to come when you can no longer buy those fruits easily!

Or make your own chutneys and pickles. The house smells fab and you have them for months ahead......

  • Remove the pan from the heat while testing
  • Cool a teaspoon of jam as rapidly as possible (eg on a saucer from the fridge)
